I am outraged at Maine Republican Party Chairman Charles Webster’s witch hunt trying to find a few cases of voter fraud to justify taking away citizens’ right to register to vote on Election Day.

The law already has been passed, and now he is conducting a private study to justify it. Why was this issue not studied in the Legislature before the law was passed?

Students attending college in Maine live in here from September to May. Some have recently turned 18 and are now eligible to vote. Why does Webster have a problem with them registering to vote here in Maine?

Orono Town Clerk Wanda Thomas said, “I’m thinking they’re being encouraged to go down and vote.”

What is wrong with that? Do we want young people to participate in the democratic process or not? I urge everyone to sign the petition to overturn this law.
