SACO — People in Saco are telling Sen. Olympia Snowe that Congress needs to start working together to fix the nation’s problems rather than bicker over politics.
With Washington in political gridlock and the nation’s credit rating downgraded, Snowe told people during a walking tour today that the partisanship in Washington is the worst she’s seen since she entered Congress in 1979.
Talking with people in small businesses and on the sidewalk, Snowe was told people are anxious about the economy, the nation’s debt and what’s to come.
Peg Poulin, the owner of a local insurance agency, told Snowe that what’s going on in Washington is “embarrassing.”
Snowe said it’s time for lawmakers to stop politicking and start governing.
