PORTLAND — Mark Wagner stroked a two-run double with two outs in the seventh inning to give the Portland Sea Dogs the lead for good in a 9-5 win over the Erie SeaWolves today at Hadlock Field.

The Sea Dogs trailed Erie 5-4 when Wagner stepped up. He worked to a full count before swatting a fastball to deep center field, scoring two runs for a 6-5 lead. Wagner then scored on Will Middlebrooks’ single.

Alex Hassan singled in two runs in the eighth inning.

Reliever Josh Fields (2-0) picked up the win with two innings of relief.

The Sea Dogs begin a three-day trip to Reading, Pa., on Tuesday before returning home for a 7p.m. Friday game against the Binghamton Mets.
