The Ferris wheel, a quintessential piece of any carnival or fair, spins through the night at the 193rd Skowhegan State Fair Friday night.

TODAY AT THE FAIR

Gate admission: $8, children under 5, free

7 a.m.: gates open
10 a.m.: poultry show, garden tractor pull
11 a.m.: all exhibition halls open
11:30 a.m.: 4-H parade
Noon: midway opens, with Fiesta Shows; magic show in the new children’s area park
1 p.m.: Franzen tiger show
1 p.m.: harness racing
2 p.m.: whoopie pie contest
3 p.m.: 4-H dairy goat show, Franzen elephant show, oxen pulling
5 p.m.: Franzen tiger show
6 p.m.: magic show in Kiddie Land
6:30 p.m.: Franzen elephant show
8 p.m.: Battle of the Bands
