PITTSTON — A local man is facing charges after he allegedly threatened his wife with a knife and stabbed her dog in the neck.

James Macinnes, 29, is charged with domestic terrorizing and cruelty to animals, said Maine State Police Lt. David Tripp.

The dog, which Tripp described as a pitbull-type breed, was taken to an animal hospital in Lewiston, where it was treated for the injuries and survived.

Maine State Police Sgt. Jeff Mills and Troopers Eric Verhille and Mark Barney responded to Macinnes’ Yeaton Road home Thursday night after he threatened to kill his wife, Tripp said.

“Macinnes had also taken a knife and stabbed his wife’s dog several times in the neck,” Tripp said.

He said the fixed-blade knife was 4 to 5 inches in length.

No other injuries were reported.
