AUGUSTA — From gold panning to granite quarrying, visitors to the Maine State Museum will have a chance to discover and explore the state’s geology and earth products.

Scientists, artists, educators and industry professionals from around Maine will gather at the museum in Augusta on Wednesday for the annual Maine Earth Science Day.

The museum says more than 800 students from throughout the state were already signed up by last week to attend Maine Earth Science Day.
