PINE TREE CONFERENCE CLASS A
Bangor (6-1) at Messalonskee (5-2)
When: 7 tonight
Where: Veterans Field, Oakland
Last season: Bangor 34, Messalonskee 6
Key players: Bangor — RB/LB Cody Chapman, RB/TB Zeb Tuell, QB/DB Carl Farnham, WR/DB Nick Sherwood, DE Justin Scripture. Messalonskee — WB/CB Sam Dexter, TE/S Jake Fenlason, G/NG Jake Stinson, WB Corey McKenzie, QB/S Travis St. Pierre.
Outlook: Bangor comes to Oakland with a five-game winning streak and a spot in the playoffs clinched. Chapman leads the Rams’ balanced power running game, and Tuell is a tough runner, as well. Messalonskee can make the playoffs by winning its last two games, or with Skowhegan and Lewiston losses. McKenzie and Dexter are among the top rushers in the conference, and Dexter is one of the top receivers. The team that can slow the opponents run game will have the advantage in this one.
Cony (1-6) at Lewiston (3-4)
When: 7 tonight
Where: Roux Field, Lewiston
Last season: Lewiston 28, Cony 0
Key players: Cony — QB Ben Lucas, WR/CB Chase Shostak, WR/RB/CB Chandler Shostak, TE Wesley Benner, LT Steven Morse. LB/G Phil Obert. Lewiston — HB Jeff Turcotte, QB Chris Madden, WR Caleb Johnson, T/DT Rudy Pandora, FB/CB Joe McKinnon.
Outlook: Lewiston, which likely needs to win out to earn one of the four PTC A playoff berths, is coming off a tough 38-6 loss to Bangor. The Blue Devils turned the ball over seven times. Turcotte has rushed for 949 yards, second in the conference. The Blue Devils are 3-0 at home this season. Cony hung tough with Lawrence last weekend. Lucas continues to impress. He threw for 166 yards and three touchdowns against Lawrence. He leads the PTC A with 12 touchdown passes.
Mt. Ararat (0-7) at Skowhegan (4-3)
When: 7 tonight
Where: Clark Field, Skowhegan
Last season: Did not play

Outlook: Mt. Ararat is the only winless team in the league and appears headed to a second consecutive winless season. The Eagles have allowed at least 40 points in five consecutive games. Skowhegan, on the other hand, has rebounded from a tough 2010 season to be a playoff contender this year. The Indians have won two games in a row, and since being shutout by Brunswick in Week 2, average 30 points per game. Dusty has become one of the top runners in the league.
Brunswick (6-1) at Lawrence (7-0)
When: 7 tonight
Where: Keyes Field, Fairfield
Last season: Brunswick 14, Lawrence 13, PTC A quarterfinal
Key players: Brunswick — RB/LB Jordan Rysdham, FB/LB Keith Kitchens, QB Jason Carter, TE/LB Sam Bessey, DE Pablo Madera. Lawrence — C/LB Josh Perry, HB/CB Shaun Carroll, QB/S Spencer Carey, WR/S Alex Leathers, DE Jake Doolan.
Outlook: This is the first regular season game between the Dragons and the Bulldogs since 2008, although Brunswick has defeated Lawrence in the playoffs in each of the last two seasons. Since an opening night loss to Bangor, the Dragons have been dominant, winning six in a row. Rysdham, Kitchens and Dylan Walton lead a strong running attack. Lawrence is dealing with some injuries. Carroll, the league’s top rusher, did not play last week at Cony, and Doolan is expected back this week after missing the Cony game with a concussion.
PINE TREE CONFERENCE CLASS B
Nokomis (1-6) at Madison (2-5)
When: 7 tonight
Where: Madison Area Memorial High School
Last season: Did not play
Key players: Nokomis — TB/DB Cody Pelletier, T/DT Caleb Vanedistine, QB/S Nathan Michaud, G/LB Matt Girroir, TB/S Austin Chipman. Madison — QB Danny Moreshead, RB Stephen Cusson, WR/S Matt Sucy, G/LB Travis Emerson, RB/LB Stephen Day.
Outlook: This is the first-ever meeting between these teams. Nokomis is coming off its first win since early in the 2009 season. Madison has allowed at least 41 points in six games this season. Nokomis has scored at least 22 points in three of the last four games, with Chipman leading the way on the ground. In it’s first season in Class B, Madison has played one of the toughest schedules in the league; the Bulldogs opponents so far are a combined 31-19.
Gardiner (6-1) at Leavitt (7-0)
When: 7 tonight
Where: Leavitt Area High School, Turner
Last season: Leavitt 27, Gardiner 7 in PTC B final; Leavitt 34, Gardiner 13 in regular season
Key players: Gardiner — TB Alonzo Connor, DL Eddie Donnell, QB Dennis Meehan, SE Justin Lovely, TE Seth Wing, WB Matt Hall, C Justin Pottle, T John Kelley, G/DE Teddy Worthley. Leavitt — QB/S Jordan Hersom, TB/LB Jake Ouellette, UT/DB Ian Durgin, T/DE Jack Griffin, G/LB Josh Bunker.
Outlook: Leavitt can lock up the No. 1 seed in the playoffs for the third consecutive season with a victory. Hersom is probably the best rushing quarterback in the conference. Connor is coming off another dominant performance, rushing for 245 yards and four scores in a 41-0 win over Madison. He rushed for 281 yards against Leavitt last season, going over the century mark in both meetings.
Mt. Blue (6-1) at Waterville (4-3)
When: 1 p.m. Saturday
Where: Drummond Field, Waterville
Last season: Did not play
Key players: Mt. Blue — QB Jordan Whitney, WR/CB Cam Sennick, HB/S Izaiha Tracy, HB/CB Eric Berry, WR Nick Hilton. Waterville — HB/S Aaron Saucier, T/NG Nick Margitza, FB/LB J.T. Whitten, G Mike O’Neil, QB Aidan Fitzgerald.
Outlook: Both teams are heading to the PTC B playoffs, this game will help set the seeding. These old rivals haven’t played since 2004, Waterville’s final season in Class A. No team has scored more points than Mt. Blue. The Cougars average just over 46 points per game. On a team full of offensive weapons, Tracy may be the most dangerous, and is coming off a four touchdown game. After winning three of their first four games, Waterville has dropped two of three. If the Panthers can grind out drives with a strong running game, they have a shot against the high-scoring Cougars.
LITTLE TEN CONFERENCE
Dexter (1-6) at MCI (3-4)
When: 7 tonight
Where: Maine Central Institute, Pittsfield
Last season: Did not play
Key players: Dexter — RB/S Andrew Levenselor, T/DT Nick Bell, C/LB Chris King, T/DT Kyle Lockhart, QB/S Trevor Fogarty. MCI — WR/DB Trey Vintinner, RB/LB Adam Ogden, OL/DL Jake McGowan, OL/DL Matt Thompson, RB Dylan Mower.
Outlook: A win ensures MCI a playoff spot. MCI is coming off a win at Hermon in which wide receiver Zack Valente returned after missing a month with injuries suffered in a car accident. Dexter has struggled to score this season. The Tigers have broken the 20-point barrier just once, in a 46-22 loss to Washington Academy. If MCI losses, the Huskies could need help to make the LTC playoffs.
Calais (1-6) at Mt. View (5-2)
When: 1 p.m. Saturday
Where: Larrabee Field, Knox
Last season: Calais 48, Mt. View 8
Key players: Calais — RB/LB Marcus Bacco, TE/S Alex Barnett, RB/LB Cordell Hold, QB/LB P.J. Descoteaux, OL/DE Dylan Gidney. Mt. View — QB/DE Jalen Babin, G/LB Mike Robinson, TB/LB Craig Nealley, RB Will Nunn, T/DT Ben Kormann.
Outlook: Mt. View has already sewn up a playoff spot and the first winning record in the program’s five year history. Now the Mustangs are trying to lock up a home game in the first round of the LTC playoffs. That can happen with a Mt. View win and a Foxcroft Academy loss. Babin and Nealley have been two-way standouts for the Mustangs this season. Calais has lost four games in a row, and in each of the Silverados losses this season, they’ve allowed at least 42 points.
CAMPBELL CONFERENCE CLASS C
Winslow (6-1) at Poland (3-4)
When: 7 tonight
Where: Poland Regional High School, Poland
Last season: Did not play
Key players: Winslow — WB/DB Shane O’Connell, FB/LB Eric Crawley, G/DE V.J. Tantoco, RB/DB Joe Hopkins, QB/DB Donald Camp. Poland — T Jake Rivard, WR Christian Hanscom, RB Tyler Sturtevant, QB Tony Whalen, Jr.
Outlook: Even with six wins, the Black Raiders haven’t clinched a home game in the playoffs. Winslow enters the final week of the regular season tied for second with Maranacook, a team the Black Raiders own a tiebreaker over. If Poland wins, the Knights, currently in 10th place in the region, still need some help to reach the playoffs.
Oak Hill (3-4) at Maranacook (6-1)
When: 7 tonight
Where: Ricky Gibson Field of Dreams, Readfield
Last season: Oak Hill 41, Maranacook 28
Key players: Maranacook — RB/LB Luke Emery, QB Caleb Castonguay, NG Eben Ballard, RB Jesse Evans, C/LB Ian Palmer, TE Seth Miller, TE Andrew Lachance. Oak Hill — TB Cody DePuy, TB Joel Wells, OL Mike Saunders, T Zach Leeman, QB Parker Asselin, Cody Collingwood, G Donnie Vannah.
Outlook: Maranacook is in the playoffs but will need a victory to keep its hopes of hosting a quarterfinal game alive. The Black Bears are tied with Winslow for third. Oak Hill is seventh and likely needs a win to secure a playoff berth. However, the Raiders could sneak in with a loss thanks to a strong strength of schedule. DePuy and Emery have each rushed for more than 1,000 yards this season.
Lisbon (5-2) at Winthrop (3-4)
When: 7 tonight
Where: Maxwell Field, Winthrop
Last season: Lisbon 24, Winthrop 16 (OT) in semifinals; Lisbon 14, Winthrop 6 in regular season
Key players: Lisbon — RB Jordan Torres, RB Quincy Thompson, RB/LB Zack Splude, NG/OL Chase Hunter, WR/S Cam Graf, WR/DB Aaron Boyington, T Casey Garrison. Winthrop — T Chris Bowers, G Tyler Reeve, FB Robin Cook, WR Drew Stratton, T Matt Smith, RB Dan Moody, RB Zach Glazier, QB Jared Hanson.
Outlook: Winthrop needs a win, and possibly some help from others, to clinch a playoff berth. A loss would bump the Ramblers out of the postseason. Winthrop is coming off a tough 27-8 loss to Poland and will have to get its ground game going against the Greyhounds. Lisbon is still fighting for a home playoff game. It sits fifth in Crabtree points.
EVERGREEN LEAGUE

Outlook: Portsmouth Abbey has won three straight since losing to Pingree in the season opener. It has allowed just 35 points all season for an average of 8.75 a game. It is averaging 31 points a game. The Huskies are allowing 36 points a game but have received a strong season from Kidik. The post-graduate student has thrown for about 900 yards.
