FARMINGTON — Blake Hart scored the lone goal of the game as the Mt. Blue High School boys soccer team beat Erskine Academy 1-0 in an Eastern Maine Class A preliminary game Friday.
Hart scored on a free kick with 33 minutes, 40 seconds left in the first half for No. 8 Mt. Blue.
Mt. Blue (9-5-1) now faces top-ranked Lewiston on Wednesday in the quarterfinals.
Ryan Pulver made six saves for No. 9 Erskine, which ends its season at 7-7-1.
Girls soccer
Hampden 3, Erskine 2, PKs: The Broncos won the penalty kick round 4-2 to defeat the Eagles in an Eastern A playoff game in Hampden.
Meryl Bond and Raechale Sage scored goals for Erskine, which ends the season at 5-8-0. Chelsea Kuzio scored both goals for Hampden Academy, which improves to 8-6-1 and advances to play No. 2 Brunswick in the quarterfinals.
Sam Bowler had six saves to earn the win, while Abby Peabody had 18 saves for Erskine.
Monmouth 1, Mt. Abram 0: Sophomore Kylie Kemp scored an unassisted goal with 24:59 remaining in the game to lead the Mustangs to the Western Class C preliminary win in North Anson.
Kemp beat two defenders and lofted the ball over the goalie’s head for the game-winner. Adriane Gonzales made four saves for Monmouth (8-7-0).
The Mustangs will now face top-seeded Dirigo on Tuesday in the quarterfinals.
Allie Lopez stopped four shots for Mt. Abram (7-7-1).
John Bapst 4, Winslow 0: Abby Pine scored a pair of goals as the Crusaders beat the Black Raiders in an Eastern B quarterfinal game in Winslow.
John Bapst improves to 8-5-0 and advances to the regional quarterfinals.
Elizabeth Ferry made 15 saves for Winslow, which ends the year at 8-5-0.
