FAIRFIELD — Michaela Hinckley-Gordon scored two goals and added an assist to lead No. 8 Lawrence to a 4-1 victory against No. 9 Cony in an Eastern Maine Class A girls soccer preliminary-round game Saturday night.

Hinckley-Gordon scored both of her goals in the first half off rebounds and assisted on another by Faith Forsythe to give the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead at the break. Emily Quirion put the Rams on the scoreboard late in the game with an assist from Mia Diplock before Mindy Rowell scored an unassisted goal with 25 seconds remaining.

“I thought tonight we really came together as a team,” Lawrence coach Michael Hinckley-Gordon said. “It was probably our best effort all season long.”

Cony goalies Melanie Guzman and Emily Quirion combined for 14 saves while Lawrence’s Paige Belanger and Ashley Yahnel also combined for 14.

Cony closes at 8-7-0 while Lawrence (8-6-1) plays at No. 1 Bangor on Tuesday night.

Lawrence 4, Edward Little 3: Matt Saunders scored three goals to lead the No. 7 Bulldogs to a Class A East prelim win over the No. 10 Red Eddies. Drew Bois added a goal and two assists for Lawrence while teammate Thad Chamberlain contributed an assist. Jared Pelletier scored twice for the Eddies and Adam Timberlake once.

Lawrence goalie Brad Mackenzie made eight saves while Mike Cote made 12 for the Red Eddies. Edward Little finishes at 4-10-1 while Lawrence (9-6-0) plays at No. 2 Bangor on Wednesday.

Mt. View 4, Caribou 0: Four different players scored goals to lead the No. 5 Mustangs to the Class B East prelim win against No. 12 Caribou.

James Philbrick opened the scoring in the first half with an assist from Aaron Elkins before Zoli Kertesz made it 2-0 at the half with an unassisted goal. Kyle Turner and Tim Bennett scored in the second half with Elkins assisting both goals.

Matt Manter made eight saves in goal for Caribou (5-10-0) while Chris Montminy made five for Mt. View (12-3-0).

Mt. View 49, Calias 14: Jay Babin threw three touchdown passes and the Mustangs finished its best regular season in program history in a Little Ten Conference game Saturday.

Joe White, Jake Aitkin and Bobby Porter all caught touchdown passes for the Mustangs (6-2), which now sets their sights on Foxcroft Academy in an LTC quarterfinal game next weekend.

Tyler McCormick rushed for a 20-yard touchdown and Craig Nealley added a 75-yard touchdown run for Mt. View as well. Mike Robinson and Justin Sigouim also got into the scoring, with each rushing for touchdowns.
