Staff report

NASHUA, N.H. — Sidney native Alei Collier scored two goals to help the Thomas College field hockey team defeat Rivier College 7-1 on Saturday afternoon.

Brittany Moore, Bre Girard, Alyssa Eugley, Brittany Premi and Lauren Hachey also scored for the Terriers (6-11-0).

Sofia Sourgiadakis and Jasmine Bishop, of Waterville, combined to stop 15 shots for the Terriers.

Williams 3, Colby 0: Emily Jablonski scored two goals and Meera Sivalingam added another to lead the host Ephs.

Jablonski also added an assist for Williams (7-6-0).

Michelle Burt had eight saves for the Mules (4-9-0), who were eliminated from NESCAC playoff contention with the loss.

UMaine 3, Rutgers 0: Alexa Binnendijk scored her 14th goal of the season to lead the No. 13 Black Bears in Amherst, Mass.

Megan Miller and Kelly Newton also scored for Maine (15-3-0). Brittany Fleck made three saves. Rutgers is 4-11-0.

New England College 2, UM-Farmington 0: The Beavers fell to 8-7, 6-3 in North Atlantic Conference play, with a loss in their regular-season finale in Henniker, N.H.

Emily Kuchta and Rachel Carnaroli scored for the Pilgrims (9-8, 7-2), who outshot UMF 16-5. Curran Brierley recorded eight saves for the Beavers.

Women’s soccer

Williams 2, Colby 1: Brett Eisenhart and Lilly Wellenbach scored second-half goals to help Williams rally from a 1-0 deficit in Williamstown, Mass.

Colby (6-6-1) went ahead 1-0 when Kate Laxson scored at 49:29 of the second half.

Williams (10-2-1) pulled even about five minutes later on on Eisenhart’s goal.

Emily Brook had eight saves for the Mules.

UM-Farmington 2, Johnson State 0: Alida Peake and Katie Emmons each scored  goal as the Beavers ended their regular season with a home win.

Ava Amador had a pair of assists for UMF (5-9-3, 4-4-1 North Atlantic Conference). Crystal Johnson had six saves for the Beavers. Amber McCullock made nine saves for Johnson State (8-5-2, 3-4-2).

Lyndon 1, Thomas 0: Lindi Libera scored in the 75th minute as the Hornets beat the Terriers in Waterville.

Kate Thibodeau had 10 saves for Thomas (3-13-0, 3-6-0 NAC).

Tia Bilado had seven saves for Lyndon (9-6-1, 4-3-1).

Men’s soccer

Williams 1, Colby 0: Phil Vestergaard scored on a penalty kick in the 15th minute, and the Ephs made it stand in Williamstown, Mass.

Than Finan had two saves for Williams (7-3-2). Ben Joslin had three saves for the Mules (6-6-1).

UM-Farmington 3, Johnson State 1: Paul Dupre and Michael Kelly both had a goal and an assist as the Beavers won in Farmington.

Jordan Hale added a goal for UMF (8-7-0, 5-3-0 North Atlantic Conference). Derek Reilly had six saves for the Beavers.

Ryan Belen had six saves and Patrick Fuller four for Johnson State (4-11-1, 1-8-0 NAC). Ryan Demars scored Johnson State’s lone goal.

Thomas 6, Lyndon State 1: In Waterville, sophomoe Michael Hand scored a hat trick to lead the Terriers to the NAC victory. Freshmen Mattias Schyberg, Khamisi Lightbourne and Dakota Duplisse added goals for Thomas (10-5, 5-3 NAC).

Cross country

The Thomas College women won the annual Mariner Invitational in Castine, with all five Terriers scoring in the top 10. Sarah Estes led Thomas, finishing third in 24 minutes, 30 seconds.

Chelsie Morris (25:36), Jericca Stackpole (26:03), Amadna Dion (28:40) and Samantha Felbaum (30:01) also scored for Thomas.

Maine Maritime Academy’s Bridget Duffy, of Hallowell, finished ninth overall in 29:07.
Maine Maritime Academy won the men’s race.

Thomas College finished second, thanks to a fourth-place finish by William Janakis (29:47).

Women’s hockey

UConn 3, UMaine 0: Sami Evelyn, Christine Brauer and Rachel Farrel scored to lead the Huskies in Storrs, Conn.

Maine (2-2-0) outshot UConn (1-3-0) 31-18 but was 0 for 6 on the power play. Brittany Ott had 15 saves for Maine.

Volleyball

Colby 3, Wheaton 1; Colby 3, Mount Holyoke 0: Maggie Taylor made the all-tournament team as the Mules went 3-0 at the Hall of Fame Tournament in South Hadley, Mass. with a pair of wins on Saturday.

Taylor had eight kills and 11 digs against Wheaton and 12 digs and five kills against Mount Holyoke.

UM-Farmington 3, Green Mountain 1; UM-Farmington 3, Castleton 0: Shannon Mitchell had 11 kills as the Beavers won their opener. In the second match, against host Castleton, Jennifer Tupper had six kills.

Men’s rowing

The Colby College men’s collegiate 4 boat finished a seventh at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Cambridge, Mass.

The Mules were one of 40 boats to start the race and the crew finished in a time of 17 minutes, 47.78 seconds. Colby was less than four seconds out of third place.

Also Saturday: Nokomis graduate Sabrina Vaillancourt scored three goals to lift Husson’s women’s soccer team to a 6-2 win over Colby-Sawyer in New Loundon, N.H. … Messalonskee High School graduate Ali Omsberg scored the game’s only goal as the Middlebury women’s soccer team beat Bates 1-0 in Lewiston. … Winthrop High School graduate Bree Tupper scored her 37th carer goal as the University of New England beat Western New England University 4-1 in Biddeford. Mt. Blue High School graduate Michelle Oswald also scored for UNE.
