TOPSHAM — Chris Hall headed in Ryan Erskine’s corner kick in the first half to lift No. 6 Messalonskee to a 1-0 win over No. 3 Mt. Ararat in an Eastern Maine Class A boys soccer quaterfinal game Wednesday.

“I thought the first 10 minutes, Mt. Ararat came out and dominated play and then I think we took over for a little while,” Messalonskee coach Tom Sheridan said. “In the second half we had chances to score.”

Messalonskee goalie Zach Sutherland made five saves, Sheridan credited the play of Wyat Omsberg, Hall, sutherland and Nate DelGiudice.

Messalonskee (11-2-2) plays at No. 2 Bangor in the semifinal round Saturday while Mt. Ararat finishes at 8-2-5.

Kents Hill 1, Gould 0: Joanna Stephens connected on a penalty kick 15 minutes into the first half and the Huskies made that goal hold up.

Savannah Poole made five saves during the first half for Kents Hill (5-4-1, 5-0-1 MAISAD), while Michaela Fala made eight saves during the second.
