AUGUSTA — A jury on Thursday cleared a Winthrop man of a charge of operating under the influence stemming from an accident on U.S. Route 202 in East Winthrop on Nov. 18, 2009.

The Kennebec County Superior Court jury deliberated less than 30 minutes before finding Timothy S. Culbert, 55, not guilty.

“Tim was very pleased that, after nearly two long years, he at last got his day in court, all of the facts finally came out and he was found not guilty,” his attorney, Walter McKee, said.

Earlier this month, another driver in that same three-vehicle collision, Donna L. Harris, 46, of Augusta, pleaded guilty to being drunk at the time of the crash.

She was sentenced to eight years in jail, with all but one year suspended and three years’ probation on a felony conviction for OUI and several other misdemeanor offenses.
