MEXICO — A family and its three dogs escaped from their house just minutes before it was engulfed by flames.

Owner Linda Bisson tells the Lewiston Sun Journal that she, her son, his wife and their 6-year-old daughter were inside the house with friends when they saw flames coming from the carport just before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. They rushed outside to escape the rapidly expanding fire.

Two cars that were in the carport burned. Two of the family’s three dogs ran down the street and into a Walmart store, where employees kept them for their owners.

One of the guests says some of her hair was partially burned, apparently after a board fell on it. No other injuries were reported.
