Patrick George ran for three touchdowns and quarterback Trevor Smith ran for a game-high 77 yards and completed 11 of 20 passes for 146 yards and a touchdown as the Bates College football team posted its win in a season for the first time since 2002, 24-2 over Bowdoin on Saturday in Lewiston.

John Squires had five catches for 92 yards and a touchdown for Bates, which rushed for a season-high 194 yards.

Bowdoin (3-4) will take on Colby (3-4) next week in Brunswick. A Bowdoin win would mean a three-way split of the CBB title for the second time in the past three seasons, while a Colby win would give the Mules the regional crown outright.

Coast Guard 52, Maine Maritime 15: Sophomore running back Tyler Hames piled up 219 total yards and a score, while senior Jarrod Owens passed for 334 yards and four touchdowns then ran in another as the Bears defeated the Mariners for the first time since 2007.

The New England Football Conference Bogan Division win snapped a five-game losing streak for Coast Guard (2-7, 2-5 Bogan), while bringing the MMA (4-5, 2-5 Bogan) season to a close with a fourth consecutive loss.

The injury-plagued Mariners were limited to 252 yards, all but 56 in the second half. Maine Maritime finally got some traction in the running game behind Ian Champeon, who finished with 71 yards; Nick Bourassa, who ran for 53; and Cameron Panciera, who produced 47 yards.

Castleton State 40, Husson 20: Juniors Shane Brozowski and Tyler Carpenter helped give eight Castleton State College seniors a warm send-off from their final career home game at Spartan Stadium.

Brozowski threw for 312 yards and three scores, completing 25 of 31 attempts with no interceptions. Carpenter had a pair of scores, rushing 14 times for 98 yards, including a bruising 45-yard run that set up a first-quarter score.

Quarterback Kash Keezer led Husson (0-9), rushing for 129 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries, while completing 10 of 29 passes for 71 yards and a pair of scores. Ryan Dorso of Farmingdale rushed for 111 yards on 16 carries, while Andre Anderson added 89 yards on 14 carries.
