In the race for House District 24, Republican Raymond Wallace was leading Democrat David Pearson 73-64 votes with one town reporting Tuesday night.

Green Independent Lesley Maynard had seven votes.

The seat was vacated by Republican Rep. Frederick Wintle, who was indicted last month on charges of criminal threatening woth a dangerous weapon, carrying a concealed weapon and reckless conduct.

Maynard, 49, of Charleston, is that town’s deputy clerk; Pearson, 62, of Dexter, is Sangerville town manager; and Wallace, 65, of Dexter, was a patent maker for Dexter Shoe Company.

House District 24 represents the Somerset County towns of Athens, Harmony and Ripley and the Penobscot County towns of Dexter, Garland and Charleston.
