FAYETTE — Three towns — Fayette, Readfield and Wayne — might band together to apply for a grant to buy a mobile generator they could share in emergencies.

Fayette selectmen at the regular Monday night meeting will consider authorizing Town Manager Mark Robinson to work with the other town managers on the application.

“There’s an emphasis on cooperative ventures in this year’s round of Homeland Security grant funding,” Robinson said. “We’re very interested in applying. There’s definitely a need in our communities.”

Robinson said the generator they are seeking would be mounted on a trailer and capable of powering the Fayette Central School, for instance.

“It could bring up one building up to temperature during winter and then be transferred to another facility,” said Robinson, who estimated the cost of such a mobile generator to be less than $20,000.

Several other issues are also on the agenda for the Fayette selectmen’s meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. in Starling Hall:

* Whether selectmen want to set a date and prepare a new warrant for a special town meeting since the Oct. 17 meeting was postponed; and

* How to deal with air-exchange issues at the school Fayette Central School.
