AUGUSTA — Ashley Peaslee scored a team-hgh 22 points and had seven assists to lead the University of Maine at Augusta women’s basketball team past the St. Joseph’s 61-42 on Saturday.

Peaslee also had seven steals for the Moose (4-0). Katie Poirier finished with a double-double, scoring 15 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Kristi Cessna also had a big game for UMA, finishing with 10 points, seven rebounds, four blocks and four assists.

Shelly Testa scored 26 points to lead St. Joseph’s (2-1).

Field hockey

Bowdoin 4, Keene State 0: The top-ranked Polar Bears cruised into the third round of the NCAA Division III tournament with the win in Brunswick.

Bowdoin (18-0) will face MIT (19-3) today for a spot in the final four.

Katie Herter scored a pair of goals for the Polar Bears. Cathleen Smith and Elizabeth Clegg also scored for Bowdoin.

Kayla Lessard needed just one save for the shutout. Catilin Davino-Draper made 12 saves for the Owls (20-5).

Men’s cross country

Colby finished 14th in the NCAA New England Region Qualifier Championships at Bowdoin.

Freshman Ben Lester led the Mules, finishing 77th in 26 minutes, 24.10 seconds in the eight-kilometer race. Charlie Coffman was 81st in 26:26.72

UMF finished 44th. Former Erskine student Jackson Fortin led the Beavers with a time of 29:12.52.

Women’s cross country

Colby finished ninth in the NCAA New England Region Qualifier Championships at Bowdoin. The Mules were ninth out of 51 scoring teams.

Eva Lauer paced Colby with a time of 22:06.45 in the six-kilometer race. Berol Dewdney finished 31st in 22:12.94 while Claire Dunn followed in 22:51.24.

Middlebury won the the team title. UMF finished 41st.

Salena Sykes was the top UMF finisher, checking in at 25:13.90 on the six-kilometer course.

Bates senior captain and Readfield native Jenny Monsulick finished 57th in 23:01.94. Monsulick graduated from Mt. Blue.

Middlebury won the event.
