MOUNT VERNON — Mitchell Riley of Mount Vernon was recently promoted to first lieutenant in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Riley graduated from Maranacook Community High School in 2005 and from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 2009 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He is a platoon leader with the 95th Route Clearance Company, deployed in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.
Riley is the son of Dorcas Riley of Mount Vernon and Douglas Riley of Readfield and the grandson of Marie Benner of Waterville.
