On Veterans Day, I observed many wonderful tributes to our military veterans in Waterville as I walked in the annual parade with my fellow veterans.

Also in Winslow, at Veterans Park, I deeply appreciated what Linda Voss and some Winslow Junior High students did to recognize those of us who serve and have served our country.

That hot cup of hot coffee and snack on a cold and wet day really was welcome at an opportune time.

My being there was nothing compared to those who marched or walked from Augusta in those less-than-pleasant conditions.

So many have made sacrifices and continue to do so. Thank you to the men and women who serve and show respect toward the best country on this planet. The values we learn as veterans should be practiced every day.

May all veterans and their families be blessed and stay together after performing their duties and sacrifices endured.
