PORTLAND – Dan Goodrich scored five touchdowns and the Cheverus High School football team scored 28 points off turnovers en route to a convincing 49-7 victory over Lawrence in the Class A state championship game Saturday before about 7,500 fans at Fitzpatrick Stadium.
“They definitely were the better team (Saturday),” said Lawrence coach John Hersom. “They didn’t give us much opportunity to get things going.”
Goodrich rushed for four touchdowns and returned a kickoff 92 yards for another score to help Cheverus (12-0) win its second consecutive Class A title.
Brent Green rushed for a game-high 179 yards for the Stags as well.
Anthony Sementelli rushed for 56 yards and a touchdown to lead the Bulldogs (11-1).
