AUGUSTA — Three people, including two teenagers, were taken to the hospital Tuesday after a three-car crash on Eastern Avenue.

Allen Smith, 19, of Augusta, and a passenger in his vehicle, a 17-year-old Augusta girl, were taken by ambulance to MaineGeneral Medical Center with head injuries, said Sgt. Christopher Shaw of the Augusta Police Department.

Kristal Giguere, 23, of Leeds, was also taken to MaineGeneral with head injuries, Shaw said.

None of the injuries was believed to be life-threatening.

Shaw said the crash occurred about 2:15 p.m. Smith’s vehicle, which was stopped in traffic, was hit from behind by another vehicle and pushed into the back of Giguere’s vehicle.

Giguere’s vehicle was driven away, Shaw said, but the other two vehicles sustained heavy front- and rear-end damage.

“We got traffic moving without too much of an issue,” Shaw said.
