Like many food pantries today, the Winthrop Food Pantry has experienced a steady rise in the number of individuals and families served. At the same time, it is become increasingly difficult to keep our shelves well stocked.
The students, advisers and administrators of Winthrop High School and Winthrop Middle School recently organized and held a Make a Difference Day food drive to benefit the Winthrop Food Pantry.
The students collected more than 2,300 pounds of food in the community. In addition, they worked for and collected donations totaling $1,700 for our benefit. They exceeded our expectations.
Our board and the families we serve in the communities of Winthrop and Wayne want to express our appreciation to them for making a difference.
