ATHENS — A man was seriously injured Friday in a fall and was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to a Bangor hospital.

A spokesman for Eastern Maine Medical Center said the man, Scott Roach, was listed in serious condition Friday afternoon.

The emergency was reported at 11:44 a.m. on Chapman Ridge Road, according to Somerset County’s dispatch center.

The Athens Fire Department and ambulances from Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan responded. The helicopter met Roach at Redington-Fairview and took him to Bangor.

A woman inside the helicopter radioed that the man fell 12 to 16 feet onto a concrete floor.

Phone calls to Athens Fire Chief Jamie Stafford were not returned. A woman who answered the phone at Roach’s sister’s house declined to comment.
