I am sure that we are not the only ones who have noticed more and more trash on West Road and several other roads in the Belgrade region.

Several times, my husband and I have picked up bags of trash on our road only to find more the very next day.

I guess people who dump tires, etc., along the rock walls and side roads of our town must believe in the saying, “Out of sight out of mind.” But that trash is not out of sight for all the people who are out driving and walking these roads.

Items we have found include syringes, coolers, beer and soda cans, used lumber, tires, spray paint cans, thousands of coffee cups, cigarettes, paper plates, napkins, trash bags empty and full. I could go on and on.

It’s trash, it belongs on the dump not on our roads and private land.

Maybe the litter bugs of Belgrade can live with it, but it makes us all look bad and it’s going into our water supply.

I talked with someone at the town office a few years ago and was told that maybe the private landowners gave permission to dump trash on their land.

And, if I find a bag full of trash, I should take it to dump so workers can find a name in it.

Since then, dumping along roads has gotten much worse. Please don’t be a litter bug.
