FARMINGTON — The Franklin County Chamber of Commerce will host the 35th annual Chester Greenwood Day Saturday, in honor of the man who invented the earmuff.

* American Legion Post 28 auxiliary’s annual holiday craft fair will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the Legion building on Middle Street.

* Franklin County Arts and Crafts Association’s craft show is set for 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in the UMF Olsen Student Center.

* Farmington Emblem Club’s craft fair will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Farmington Elks Lodge.

* The Farmington Historical Society will display vintage Greenwood items at the Titcomb House from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

* The Chester Greenwood Parade will travel through downtown Farmington starting at 11 a.m. Participants will line up in the Mallett School parking lot by 10 a.m. Float judging will be conducted en route, so the crowd can plan to find a panel of local celebrity judges stationed outside the Franklin Savings Bank loan center on Main Street. Prizes will be awarded directly after the parade at the Franklin County Courthouse.

Candy throwing will be permitted by individuals walking along the parade route only, not from the floats themselves. Pre-registration is not required, but forms and event rules are posted online at franklincountymaine.org. The theme is “A Chorus of Carols,” so find a way to include a favorite holiday song into the entry. Earmuffs must be incorporated into each float.

* The Chamber Chili Challenge will be from noon to 1 p.m. at Bangor Savings Bank, Main Street. Pre-registration required. Entries should be dropped off between 11:30-11:45 a.m. Forms are available online.

* The Gingerbread House Contest will be at Bangor Savings Bank. Entries can be dropped off at the Main Street entrance between 8:30-9 a.m. The creations will be on display 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The theme is “A Chorus of Carols.” Pre-registration is required, forms are available online.

* In-Clog-Neat-O will perform from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in front of Bangor Savings Bank.

* After a kickoff to the Gerry Wiles Holiday Food Basket Drive at the Chamber’s annual meeting, the chamber asks for donations of non-perishable food items to help support neighbors in need.

* The Chester Greenwood flag raising ceremony will begin at 12:15 p.m. at the Franklin County Courthouse.

* Horse and wagon rides will be available from noon to 1 p.m. with pickup near Franklin Savings Bank and Dunkin’ Donuts on Main Street.

* The Downtown Business Association will hold an earmuff fashion show. Participants can show off their earmuffs at 1 p.m. at the gazebo in Meetinghouse Park.

* The Polar Bear Club members’ annual dip into Clearwater Lake in Industry is planned for 3 p.m.

* The Franklin County Chamber will offer Chamber Bonus Bucks from Dec 1-3. For any purchase of $100 or more, participants will receive a 10 percent bonus. Stop by the Chamber office between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Thursday or Friday or pick them up at Bangor Savings Bank on Saturday. The promotion is good for purchases from $100 to $500.

* The Farmington Rotary Club’s annual Festival of Trees will be Saturday, Dec. 10, at UMF’s North Dining Hall.
