PALMYRA — Nominations are being solicited for the Business of the Year Award and the Joyce Packard Community Spirit Award to be presented at the 2012 annual meeting and banquet for the Sebasticook Valley Chamber of Commerce Thursday, Feb. 9.

The awards aim to highlight examples of commitment, impact on local issues or needs, leadership, innovation and active citizenship. It is hoped that the awards will recognize invaluable contributions of the recipients, and inspire others to follow their examples.

The Business of the Year Award is chosen by Chamber members is a way to simply say thank you to area businesses for their contributions to the community. Nominees must be members in good standing of the SV Chamber; must show a dedication to making the area a better place by giving back to communities. Factors to consider include a reputation of honesty and integrity, an innovative spirit, commitment to community and diversity, shows demonstrated perseverance, and growth in support of economic development of the communities.

Nominees for the Joyce Packard Community Spirit Award should be a resident of the Sebasticook Valley area and be willing to be publicized in the Chamber newsletter and other publications and be willing to come to the annual banquet to receive the award.

Criteria for award nominations and nomination forms are available at town offices, ourchamber.org, and at the Chamber information office in the log cabin in the Walmart parking lot.

Nominations should be received at the Chamber office by Friday, Dec. 23.
