PARIS — A Woodstock man who was the subject of a state police manhunt in November has had his $100,000 property bail revoked in favor of $25,000 cash bail after he was charged with burglary and receiving stolen property.
Prosecutors say 26-year-old Joseph R. Cox violated his bail conditions by breaking into a relative’s house and stealing cigarettes and a leaf blower.
The Sun Journal reports that Cox’s attorney argued for a higher surety bail rather than cash, saying the burglary charge was overblown.
Cox and his girlfriend were the targets of a four-hour manhunt last month after he allegedly attacked a relative then ran into the woods with weapons.
He is facing charges of aggravated assault, criminal threatening, assault, domestic violence assault and terrorizing in connection with the earlier case.
