AUGUSTA — Police returned to a Western Avenue motel early this morning for the second robbery in a week.

Augusta Police Lt. Keith Brann confirmed that a robbery occurred at the Super 8 Motel at about 12:17 a.m. Nobody was injured, and police continue to search for the culprits, Brann said.

Additional details will be released later today, Brann said.

It was the second robbery at the motel in a week. Two guests called police at about 1:30 a.m. Dec. 12 after after a man reportedly entered a room and struck another man on the head with a handgun. The suspect fled on foot with an undetermined amount of money, Shaw said.

The victim suffered minor injuries. A woman in the room with him was not injured.

The suspect was described as a white man, wearing a hooded sweatshirt with red lettering.

It was not immediately clear if the victim of today’s robbery was a guest of the business.
