I recently attended what I thought was going to be a holiday concert at Waterville Junior High School.

It was far from being one, however, as no traditional holiday music was played, except for the chorus that sang “Deck the Halls.”

I was quite upset about this. Usually when we go to these kind of events we expect to hear Christmas carols, not secular music.

I was told some parents complained last year that there was too much Christmas music in the concert. What did they expect?

It is a sad state of affairs that it comes down to this, when a small minority gets its way and tramples on my and many others people’s rights. What about my rights?

It’s awful that some people want to get rid of a lot of Christmas traditions that many of us hold dear.

I don’t know why the powers that be decided not to play traditional holiday music, maybe they are afraid of the American Civil Liberties Union.

Merry Christmas (try taking that away from me).
