GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Rachelle Coward scored a game-high 30 points and the Charleston Southern women’s basketball team sank the University of Maine 78-63 in the finale of the Gator Holiday Classic.
Shareka Maner scored a career-high 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Black Bears (3-9). Ashleigh Roberts scored 10 points for Maine as well.
Charleston Southern would go up by as many as 20 points before Maine tried to battle back.
However, Coward and the Buccaneers (7-4) prevailed.
Coward made 10 of her 17 shots from the field, including six 3-pointers.
UMain’s Rebecca Knight earned a spot on the Gator Holiday Classic All-Tournament team with a well-rounded performance. She finished with five points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals in a career-high 38 minutes.
