FAIRFIELD — Skowhegan nearly pulled off a huge upset, but Lawrence used a 22-9 advantage at the free-throw line to hold on for a 58-55 victory in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A boys basketball action Thursday.

Spencer Carey hit 11 free throws and had 17 points for Lawrence (4-1). Tim Dudley and Alex Leathers scored 11 apiece. Lawrence’s largest lead at the end of any quarter was four points.

Levi Barnes scored 22 points and Ethan Johnson added 12 for Skowhegan (0-5).

Mt. Blue 66, Oxford Hills 47: Nick Hilton had 10 points as the Cougars won in Farmington.
Eric Berry added nine points for Mt. Blue (3-2).

Josh McDonald had 10 points for Oxford Hills (1-4).

Nokomis 78, Oak Hill 40: The Warriors pulled away in the seocnd half en route to the KVAC B win in Wales.

Andrew Carwright led Nokomis (4-1) with 18 points including four 3-pointers while teammate Ethan Pearl added 17 and Spencer Hartsgrove 12.

Sam Morin paced Oak Hill (0-5) with 20 points while Derek Gamage and Kelsey Lamothe each grabbed eight rebounds.

Mt. View 51, Winslow 45: The Mustangs erased a five-point halftime deficit and went on to the victory in Thorndike.

Chris Montminy led Mt. View (2-2) with 13 points, and Bobby Porter scored 12.

Trevor Lovely (16) and Justin Murray (11) were the top scorers for Winslow, which fell to 3-2.

Mt. Abram 44, Monmouth 40: Tyler Hupper scored 12 points as the Roadrunners won in Monmouth.
Ian James added 10 points for Mt. Abram (2-2).

Brandon Goff had 15 points for Monmouth (2-3).

Valley 68, Islesboro 27: Carrington Miller led the way with 29 points as the Cavaliers rolled over the Eagles in Islesboro.

Miller had help from Caleb Wade (10 assists), while Josh West chipped in with 14 points and 10 rebounds for Valley (5-0).

Cameron Jack led Islesboro (0-5) with eight points.

Gardiner 48, Waterville 38:
Senior Matt Hall had 14 points and hauled in 11 rebounds to lead the host Tigers to the KVAC B win.

Alonzo Connor added nine points, nine rebounds and four steals for Gardiner (4-1) while Jake Palmer chipped in with nine points.

Waterville (2-3) was led by Josh Gormley with 13 points and JT Michaud with eight.

Maranacook 54, MCI 34: Seth Miller scored a game-high 17 points, including 11 in the second half, as the Black Bears pulled away for the KVAC B win in Pittsfield.

Taylor Wilbur added 13 points for Maranacook (3-2).

Adam Ogden, Trey Vintinner, Kael McCarthy and Mitchell Hallee each scored seven points for MCI (0-5).

Hampden 52, Messalonskee 41: Fred Knight had 17 pionts as the Broncos beat the Eagles in a KVAC A game in Oakland.

Zach Gilpin added 16 and Christian McCue 11 for Hampden (5-0).

Travis Stacey, Riley Wentworth and Elijah Steele each had nine points for Messalonskee (0-5).

Mtn. Valley 86, Madison 48: The Falcons led by 15 after three quarters but outscored the Bulldogs 28-5 in the fourth to ease to the MVC win in Madison.

The Falcons (3-1) hit a whopping 16 3-pointers in the game. Ryan Nichols hit seven 3-pointers and scored 25 points, while Jacon Theriault pitched in with 17 points and Zach Radcliff had 16.

Austin Kane had 17 points for Madison (1-3), which hit five 3-pointers.
