WATERVILLE — The Waterville Senior High School boys basketball team held Leavitt to just 14 points in the second half and handed the Hornets their first loss of the season, 49-43, in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B game Wednesday afternoon.

Josh Gormley scored 13 points and J.P. Michaud had 12 points and 12 rebounds for Waterville, which improves to 3-3. Max Brown added six steals for the Panthers.

Jordan Hersom had 16 points for Leavitt (5-1).

Medomak Valley 66, Winslow 42: Isaac Greenrose had 14 points as the Panthers beat the Black Raiders in a KVAC B game in Winslow.

Jonathan Hendrickson added 11 points for Medomak Valley (5-1).

Justin Murray had 12 points, five rebounds and four assists for Winslow (3-3).

Nokomis 57, Mt. View 55: Ethan Pearl had 21 points as the Warriors beat the Mustangs in a KVAC B game in Newport.

Ruel Libby added nine points, while Spencer Hartsgrove and Drew Wing each had eight.

Ryan St. Claire had 15 points and Bobby Porter 11 for Mt. View (2-3).

Girls basketball

Monmouth 40, Carrabec 33: Kylie Kemp had 11 points as the Mustangs beat the Cobras in an MVC game in North Anson.

Colby Wilson added 10 points for Monmouth (3-2).

Emma Pluntke had six points and 10 rebounds, while Macy Andrews had nine points and seven rebounds for Carrabec (1-4). Jocelyn Jackson had 11 points.

Nokomis 65, Mt. View 21: Emilee Reynolds had 16 points as the Warriors beat the Mustangs in a KVAC B game in Thorndike.

Boys hockey

Skowhegan 2, Gardiner 1: Tyler Savage’s third-period goal powered the Indians to the victory at Sukee Arena in Winslow. Ryal Gove assisted. Trey Michonski gave Skowhegan a 1-0 lead in the first period with assists going to Gove and Jake Johnson. The Tigers ted the game on a third period goal from Seth Wing assisted by Josh Moore.

Brad Moore made 16 saves in goal for Gardiner (2-3-0) while Sam Edmondson made 28 stops for Skowhegan (3-1-1).

Messalonskee 12, Lawrence 0: Sam Dexter scored five goals to lead the Eagles to the win.

Jake Dexter added two goals while Chase Cunningham, J.T. Towle, Billy Blake, James Varney and Shawn Veilleux each scored once.

Nate Delgiudice made nine saves in goal for Messalonskee (3-1-0) while Ben Weeks had 10 for Lawrence (2-4-0).
