AUGUSTA — Maine’s heating oil prices are holding steady.
The Governor’s Office of Energy Independence and Security said the average statewide price today was $3.56 a gallon, down a penny from a week ago. Prices were lowest in southern Maine and highest in northern Maine.
Since Halloween, heating oil prices have ranged only 10 cents a gallon – between an average of $3.56 and $3.66 a gallon.
Energy Office Director Ken Fletcher says although prices have been stable, they could easily become volatile with growth in China’s economy, political tensions with Iran and economic uncertainty in Europe.
Kerosene today was selling for an average of $3.97 a gallon, down a penny from last week. Propane was selling for $3.14 a gallon, up 2 cents a gallon.
