FAIRFIELD — Mr. and Mrs. Thomas E. King celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary August 20th, 2011, at the Waterville Grand Hotel. The party was given by their son, Scott King and catered by the Waterville Grand Hotel.
Thomas King and the former Elizabeth “Betty” Johnston were married August 18, 1961, at the First Baptist Church in Waterville by Rev. Ralph Reynolds.
Mrs. King was employed by an Air Force commissary for 4 years while stationed at Hahn Air Base, Germany. Upon returning to Maine, she was employed by C.F. Hathaway for 20 years, and also worked at Assistance Plus for 5 years, retiring in 2005.
Mr. King served in the US Air Force over 20 years then entered law enforcement, retiring from the Fairfield Police Department in 1999. He then worked at Huhtamaki for nine years, retiring in 2009.
They have one special grandson, Scott T. King.
Guests attended from Rhode Island, New York, Texas and numerous surrounding towns.
