WINSLOW — The Waterville Senior High School hockey team earned a much needed victory Wednesday night, beating Lawrence High School 4-2 in an Eastern A game at Sukee Arena.

J.T. Whitten scored two goals for Waterville, which snapped a season-opening six-game losing skid. Kaleb Kane and Aaron Saucier also scored for the Panthers, who were outscored 33-6 in their first six games. Whitten also had an assist.

Dakota Gendreau, starting in place of the ill Cody Thibodeau, stopped 18 Lawrence shots to earn the victory.

Lawrence (2-5-0), which has lost five of its last six games, received goals from Tyler Boudicca and Josh Doolan. Kyle McLain had 32 saves for the Bulldogs

The Panthers trailed 2-0 midway through the second period before storming back.

Kane, a sophomore, scored 5:42 into the second on a rebound to pull Waterville within 2-1. Saucier then banged home the equalizer with 5:15 left in the period.
