AUGUSTA — A Camden National Bank will open a branch on Western Avenue by late spring.

Gregory Dufour, bank president and chief executive officer, said Friday that the bank is expanding into Augusta because it has strong relationships with area businesses, government agencies and people, “which makes this a natural expansion of our franchise.”

Camden National Bank purchased a building at 22 Western Ave. on Dec. 29, 2011.

Megan Richardson, marketing and communications specialist for Camden National Corporation, said the property will undergo significant renovations.

The branch, which will be the 39th Camden National Bank location in Maine, will be a full-service bank, featuring a two-lane drive-up and a 24-hour ATM, she said.
