TOPSHAM — Messalonskee made 10 three-point baskets and beat Mt. Ararat 68-55 to earn its first win of the season in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A boys basketball game Thursday.

Gage Landry had 13 points, including three 3-pointers and Riley Wentworth had 12 points, including four 3-pointers for Messalonskee (1-7). Elijah Steele added 11 points and Luke Vigue had 10.

Josh Wright had 15 points for Mt. Ararat (0-8).

Lisbon 45, Winthrop 36: Nathan Smith scored 12 points as the Greyhounds won the Mountain Valley Conference game in Lisbon.

Tucker Brannon added 10 points for Lisbon (1-7).

Hunter Kilgore, Taylor Morang and Tyler Foster all had eight points for Winthrop (0-8).

Girls basketball

Madison 49, Monmouth 30: Sam Bruce scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds as the Bulldogs took the MVC win in Madison.

Melissa White had 10 points for Madison (7-0), while Lyndsay Weese had nine rebounds.

Kristine Kahl led Monmouth (3-5) with eight points.

Mt. Ararat 47, Messalonskee 32: Mallory Nelson had 11 points as Mt. Ararat beat Messalonskee in a KVAC A game in Oakland.

Caitlin LaFountain and Molly Estes both added 10 points for Mt. Ararat (6-2).

Megan Pelletier had 11 points and Mary Badeen 10 for Messalonskee (5-3).

Hall-Dale 61, Wiscasset 27: Carylanne Wolfington had 31 points and eight rebounds as the Bulldogs cruised to an MVC win in Farmingdale.

Wendy Goldman added 12 points and eight rebounds for Hall-Dale (6-2).

Kayla Connors and Brianna Gould both had eight for Wiscasset (0-7).

Boys hockey

MHW 5, Brunswick 2: Dan Condon had a hat trick as the Hawks won in Brunswick.

Bailey Clark and Ian Palmer also scored, while Matt Plourde had three assists and Nick Lacasse and Jason Laporte each had one for MHW (4-2-0). Tyler Plante earned the win with 23 saves.

Dwayne Palmer and Matt Brooks both scored for Brunswick (2-4-0).

Cony 4, Gray-New Gloucester/Poland 0: Zack Gagne scored twice to lead the Rams to the Class A win on Wednesday.

Galen Casey had a goal and an assist for Cony (4-1-0) while Keifer Cantara had the other goal. Matt Swan made 23 saves.

Gray-NG/Poland falls to 2-2-1.
