BANGOR — Richmond graduate Marc Zaharchuk scored 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Husson University to the upset over Thomas College 77-70 in a men’s basketball game Tuesday night.
Daeshawn McMorrin added 22 points for Husson (2-9) while Mike Gonzales chipped in with 11 and Phil Leighton 10.
Thomas (7-4) was led by Jarrad DeVaughn with 17 points and Franklin Salvador 15.
UMF 62, MMA 49: Andrew Dickey scored 15 points off the bench to lead the Beavers to the North Atlantic Conference win in Castine.
Ben Johnson added 13 points for the Beavers (7-4, 7-0) while Kevin Leary chipped in with 10.
MMA (2-10, 1-5) was led by Tyler Pineo with 16 points, Andy Ball with 12 and Ben Russell with 10.
Women’s basketball
MMA vs. UM-Farmington suspended: The North Atlantic Conference contest between Maine Maritime Academy and the University of Maine at Farmington in Castine was suspended during the first half because of a power outage. MMA led 27-22 with 1:01 left in the first half when play was halted.
The game has tentatively been scheduled to resume at 7 p.m. Jan. 31.
Men’s hockey
USM 3, Colby 0: Brad McGovern had a goal an an assist as the Huskies beat the Mules in Gorham.
Matt MacDonald added two assists, while Ben Pearl and Jamie Osbourne each added a goal for USM (5-5-2).
Jordan Nathan stopped 17 shots in his first career start for Colby (3-9-0).
Also Tuesday: Nokomis graduate Kelley Paradis scored 17 points as the University of New England beat Gordon College 66-47 in Biddeford.
