The U19 Maine Majestix Field Hockey team earned a spot in the national indoor championships by going 6-0 at a USA Field Hockey qualifying tournament Sunday at Mt. Holyoke College in Pennsylvania.

Majestix defeated teams from Maine, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania to win the New England regional. The national championships are March 2-4 in Virginia Beach, Va.

Majestix went undefeated despite missing its regular goalie, Messalonskee’s Lexy Cole, to illness. Skowhegan’s Allison Lancaster and Winslow Allison LeClair, both of whom are midfielders on their high school teams, played goal in the tournament.

Also on the Majestix roster are Leah Edmondson of Nokomis, Skowhegan’s Sarah Finnemore, John Bapst’s Elise Tilton and Messalonskee’s Katie Bernatchez, Kristy Bernatchez, and Lynnae Luettich. The team is coached by Thomas College coach Andrea Thebarge.
