SKOWHEGAN — Rep. Jeff McCabe will seek re-election for House District 85, representing Skowhegan, according to a news release.

McCabe, 34, has held the seat since 2008 and is serving his second term in the Maine House of Representatives.

As the ranking House Democrat on the Legislature’s Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry Committee, McCabe sponsored legislation to prevent harmful insects from infecting the Maine woods and crops, as well as legislation to create a Maine farm and fish school program to help Maine schools buy more food grown or harvested by Maine farmers and fisherman.

McCabe is director of Lake George Regional Park and a registered Maine Guide, working for North Country Rivers.

He and his wife, Sara, have two school-age children. He is a past chairman of the Skowhegan Planning Board and a member of Unity College Board of Trustees.
