WATERVILLE — Karin Bird scored a game-high 24 points but it wasn’t enough for the Thomas College women’s basketball team, which dropped a 78-66 decision to the University of Maine at Fort Kent on Sunday in Larry Mahaney Gymnasium.

Jennifer Colpitts led five Bengals in double digit scoring with 19 points. Megan Land added 13 points for the Bengals (3-11).

Elizabeth Goodall scored 13 points for the Terriers (2-12).

UMaine-Presque Isle 63, UMaine-Augusta 58: Rashell Saucier scored 14 points and UMPI erased a nine-point halftime deficit to earn the victory in Presque Isle.

Renee Moore scored 12 points and Emily Moore chipped in with 11 for UMPI as well.

Katie Poirior finished with a double-double (17 points and 14 rebounds) to lead the Moose. Jen Lola scored 17 points while Ashley Peaslee finished with 14 for UMA (9-6) as well.

Swimming

Colby’s Mason Roberts finished second in the 50-meter breaststroke in a 244-42 loss to MIT on Saturday. Colby’s Mandy Ferguson won the 500 freestyle and was second in the 1,000 freestyle for the Colby women’s team meet against MIT on Saturday at Cambridge, Mass.

Indoor track and field

Annabelle Hicks and Brittney Bell each won an individual event to lead the Colby women’s indoor track team to a victory at a tri-meet at MIT on Saturday.

Hicks won the 55-meter dash in 7.50 seconds. Bell won the 400 in 1:01.63.

Also Saturday: The University of Southern Maine women’s rack team finished second at the Bowdoin 5 Way meet in Brunswick. Morgan Beede, of Augusta, finished second in the 5,000 meters (19:29.96) while Bethany Dumas, also of Augusta, was second in the pole vault (11-1). Former Winslow standout Christina Massey had two third-place finishes, including the 400-meters (1:02.74) and high jump (4-11 3/4).
