WALES — Oak Hill High School football coach Dave Wing has resigned, citing time constraints.

“It’s just time,” said Wing, 64, a Greene native. “It’s just the time more than anything else. I coached for awhile, then got away, and then came back. You get to a point where you have to make a clear decision.

“Do you still want to put in the time? It’s a seven-days-a-week job. I took a long time to think this over. I just asked myself if I wanted to keep doing it or was it time for somebody else? And it was time for somebody else.”

Wing, who previously coached at Skowhegan and Brewer, went 12-16 in three seasons at Oak Hill. He took the Raiders to the playoffs in all three years.

Oak Hill athletic director Jim Palmer praised Wing’s commitment to the program.

“You couldn’t ask for anybody who cared more than Dave,” Palmer said. “I know the time he was putting in. As a former head coach myself, I know the commitment he was making. He was great for the program.”
