NEWPORT — Marissa Shaw scored 12 points as the Nokomis girls basketball team remained unbeaten with a 58-40 win over Oceanside in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B action Thursday.
Emilee Reynolds added 11 points for Nokomis, which improves to 13-0.
Kennadi Grover had 14 points and Hannah Plourde 12 for Oceanside (9-5).
Waterville 41, MCI 32: Ashleigh Gagne scored 14 points and Lauren Crane added another 10 as the Panthers won their KVAC B game in Pittsfield.
Waterville (7-6) jumped out to an 11-5 lead through one quarter and never trailed. Kylee Alton led the Huskies (2-12) with a game-high 17 points, which included two 3-pointers.
Vinalhaven 51, Valley 22: After a close first quarter, Vinalhaven dominated the final three to pull away from the Cavaliers in a Western Class D home game.
Teagan Laweryson led Valley (4-10) with 12 points. Izza Drury scored a game-high 15 points for Vinalhaven (8-6), which got another 12 from Ashley Hamilton.
Boys basketball
Waterville 64, MCI 40: Chris Hale scored a game-high 14 points and Max Brown added 10 to lead the Panthers in an Eastern B game in Waterville. JP Michaud added eight points and 10 rebounds for Waterville (8-5).
Jerry Chen scored eight points and Chris Bordeau added six to lead the Huskies (2-11).
Valley 60, Vinalhaven 58: Carrington Miller scored 21 points and Josh West had a double-double to lead Valley.
West finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds for the Cavaliers, who improved to 10-4. Miller also added five assists and Seth Malloy chipped in with seven points.
Steven Osgood had 12 points to lead Vinalhaven (8-6).
Madison 71, Boothbay 59: Austin Kane scored a game-high 23 points, including 19 in the second half, and the Bulldogs prevailed at Boothbay. Dylan Price and MJ Flanders each scored 11 points for Madison (7-7), which trailed 33-30 at the half.
Anthony DiMauro scored 16 points and Ben Dickinson added 12 to lead Boothbay (10-4).
Spruce Mountain 84, Mt. Abram 31: Zach Bonnevie scored a game-high 25 points and James Barker added 13 to lead visiting Spruce Mountain (13-1).
Trevin Dunlap scored 11 points and Jake Bessey added eight for the victors. Ian James scored 14 points to lead the Roadrunners (2-12).
Women’s basketball
UM-Augusta 59, SMCC 56: Jenn Lola had 19 points and 12 rebounds as the Moose won in South Portland.
Katie Poirier added 18 points, while Ashley Peaslee had 14 for UMA (11-8).
Kaitlyn Benson scored 18 points for SMCC (10-6).
