WATERVILLE — The AARP Tax-Aide program will provide free federal and state income tax preparation and free electronic filing to low- and moderate-income individuals. Taxpayers of any age can use this service with special attention given to those 60 and older. Returns are prepared by IRS certified volunteers.

The following sites will offer assistance by appointment from Wednesday, Feb. 1 to Tuesday, April 17:

* Muskie Federal Building, 68 Sewall St., Augusta, Room 510. from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. For an appointment, call 623-8975 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

* Buker Community Center, 22 Armory St., Augusta. Mondays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to noon. For an appointment, call 582-3053 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

* Spectrum Generations, Cohen Community Center, 22 Town Farm Road, Hallowell. Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For an appointment, call 626-7777.

* Dr. Shaw Memorial Library, 344 Pond Road, Mt. Vernon. Saturdays: Feb. 25, March 10, March 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For an appointment, call 293-2565 or 293-2954.
