FAYETTE — Residents here are being urged to be on the lookout for snowmobilers with more in mind than a joyride.

Town Manger Mark Robinson said Thursday that at least one person discovered tracks that suggest a snowmobiler was scoping out a home for a future burglary.

“Please be on guard,” Robinson urged.

He said a Young Road resident came home to discovery snowmobile tracks circling the house and footprints leading up to windows.

Robinson said the town has been struck by burglars as recently as late last month when thieves broke into a Route 17 home.

“It’s ongoing,” Robinson said.

He asked those who see suspicious activity to call police at 624-7076 or the town office at 685-4373.
