BRUNSWICK — Meryl Bond hit a foul shot late in regulation to give the Eagles the lead, and Amy Phillips hit a pair to ice it as Erskine defeated Brunswick 55-53 in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A girls basketball action Tuesday.

Erskine (3-14) lead by 16 midway through the fourth quarter, but didn’t score again until there were 14 seconds left in the game, when Bond hit a foul shot. Phillips gathered a rebound and was fouled with 2 seconds left, hitting a pair of foul shots to give Erskine a three-point lead.

Bridget Humphrey led Erskine with 16 points, eight steals and six rebounds. Bond had 13 points, five rebounds and four assists.

Liz Faulkner had 19 points and Mel Bryant 10 for Brunswick (4-13).

Gardiner 52, MCI 26: Katie McAllister had a double-double, finishing with 12 points and 17 rebounds, as the Tigers won a KVAC B game in Pittsfield.

Kylee Granholm added eight points for Gardiner (15-2).

Ashley Kitchin had eight points for MCI (2-15).

Richmond 51, Buckfield 17: Jamie Plummer had 21 points and seven rebounds as the Bobcats cruised to an East-West Conference win in Buckfield.

Danica Hurley added 12 points, four rebounds, four steals and four assists for Richmond (15-1).

Caitlin Henderson scored 10 points for Buckfield (4-14).

Rangeley 45, Kents Hill 41: Taylor Esty and Emily Carrier each had 12 points as the Lakers won the Class D game in Kents Hill.

Chantal Carrier added 11 points for Rangeley (16-2). Esty added 10 rebounds, while Emily Carrier had five assists and five steals.

Marissa Tarrio had 11 points and Emma Curnin 10 for Kents Hill (5-6). Heather Larrabee added eight points, 11 rebounds and five steals, while Caroline Tortorella added seven points, nine rebounds and seven steals.

Messalonskee 55, Mt. Blue 45: Mary Badeen and Megan Pelletier combined for 40 points to lead the Eagles to the KVAC A win in Oakland.

Badeen finished with 21 points for the Eagles (13-4) while Pelletier had 19. Badeen and Pelletier also had eight rebounds apiece.

Mt. Blue (11-6) was led by Miranda Nicely with 18 points and Gabby Foy with 12.

Nokomis 45, Waterville 24: Marissa Shaw scored 12 points as the Warriors improved to 17-0 with a KVAC B win over the Panthers in Newport.

Anna Mackenzie added 10 points for Nokomis.

Ashleigh Gagne had 11 points for Waterville (8-9).

Cony 38, Hampden 30: Mia Diplock scored 19 points as the Rams survived Hampden’s slow-down tactics to post the KVAC Class A win and extend their record to 17-0. Diplock and Emily Sanford each grabbed seven rebounds while Josie Lee scored 12 poiints. Ashley Danforth scored 12 points and Jordan Maxwell 11 for Hampden (9-8)

Boys basketball

Gardiner 80, MCI 54: Aaron Toman had 21 points and eight rebounds to pace the host Tigers to the KVAC B win. Jake Palmer added 16 points, seven rebounds and six assists for Gardiner (15-2) while Alonzo Connor chipped in with 12 points, five rebounds and three blocks. Justin Lovely also had 12 points.

MCI (2-15) was led by Trey Vintinner, BJ Philbrick and Jerry Chen with 10 points apiece.

Mt. Blue 73, Messalonskee 57: Cam Sennick had 24 points and 22 rebounds to lead the Cougars to the KVAC A win in Farmington.

Nick Hilton added 21 points for Mt. Blue (13-4) while Eric Berry chipped in with 15 points, eight steals and five assists.

Messalonskee (2-15) was led by Gage London and Elijah Steele with 11 points each.

Buckfield 58, Richmond 39: Austin Dooley scored 18 points to lead Buckfield to the East-West Conference win.

Cody Barker had 10 points and eight rebounds for Buckfield (7-11), which led 26-2 after a quarter.

Ben Carver had 12 points for Richmond (4-13).

Maranacook 55, Oak Hill 38: Kyle Boucher scored 19 points to lead the Black Bears to the KVAC B win in Wales.

Seth Miller added 11 points for Maranacook.

Oak Hill (0-17) was led by Parker Asselin and Derek Gamage with 12 points apiece.

Winslow 73, Mt. View 48: Trevor Lovely had 20 points and six assists to lead the Black Raiders to a KVAC B win in Winslow.

Brandon Labrie added 18 points and four assists for Winslow (11-6), while Austin Ireland had eight points and 10 rebounds. Justin Murray chipped in 10 points.

Taylor Reynolds had 17 points for Mt. View (7-10).

 Hampden 67, Cony 42: Christian McCue scored 19 points to lead the host Broncos to the KVAC A win. Fred Knight added 16 points for Hampden (16-1) while Matt Palmer scored 13. Cony (6-11) was led by Walker Cooper with a game-high 24 points and Josiah Hayward with seven.

Men’s basketball

UM-Farmington 80, Bates 70: The Beavers rallied from an 18-point deficit to beat the Bobcats in Farmington.

Maranacook Community School graduate Kevin Leary scored 14 second-half points and fellow Maranacook graduate Ben Johnson had 14 of his 20 in the second half for UMF (13-8). Johnson added nine rebounds and Leary finished with 17 points.  Ed Bogdanovich had 14 points for Bates (11-10).

Women’s basketball

Colby 71, Husson 43: Jil Vaughan had 19 points and 12 rebounds as the Mules won.

Cony High School graduate Rachael Mack added 12 points, for Colby (16-5).

Stephanie Comstock had 14 points and nine rebounds for Husson (10-10).
