It’s bewildering that men who abstain from normal sexual activity can claim to have authority over the intimate behavior of others.

Yet the Catholic clergy refuse to allow their parishioners access to contraceptives, which they know are widely used anyway and will continue to be so.

They do everything they can to prevent same-sex couples from getting the right to marry. And they establish clinics to persuade gay people to change their sexual orientation.

It’s perfectly natural that men who have supposedly abstained from sexual behavior should be fascinated with the sexuality of others.

One can only wish, however, that they would show a concern for the real moral issues of our day and give up their unhealthy and prurient fixation on the sex lives of ordinary people.
