AUGUSTA – Mia Diplock scored a game-high 25 points and Josie Lee added 13 to lead the top-seeded Cony girls basketball team past Bangor 57-47 in an Eastern A quarterfinal game Friday night at the Augusta Civic Center.

Melanie Guzman scored 12 points for Cony (19-0), which will meet No. 4 Mt. Ararat in the semifinals on Wednesday.

“We’ve been playing pretty well,” Cony coach Karen Magnusson said. “Bangor is probably the biggest team will see on this side of the tournament. We played pretty aggressive and our defense helped create on offense.”

Katie Brochu scored 20 points and grabbed 17 rebounds to lead No. 9 Bangor (8-12), which also had 33 turnovers and couldn’t slow an aggressive Cony attack.
