BATH — Sheriff’s deputies in Bath arrested a high-risk sex offender from Massachusetts who was parked outside the West Bath Elementary School Thursday.

John A. Rosa, 58, of Lexington, Mass., has three separate convictions for indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 spanning 22 years. A vending machine repairman, Rosa is on parole in Massachusetts and was wearing an ankle bracelet intended to monitor his location.

A child’s grandfather confronted Rosa because he appeared suspicious, parked at the school as children were arriving. The grandfather called the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office and Deputy Steve Thibeault found Rosa minutes later at the West Bath District Court and identified him.

The sheriff’s office contacted Rosa’s parole officer who obtained an arrest warrant. Rosa is being held as a fugitive from justice and is scheduled to be arraigned today.
