JEFFERSON — Monday morning a man almost amputated his finger while sawing wood.

Jefferson Fire Chief Walter Morris said the man was cutting wood at Hunt Lumber off Route 215 when his gloves got caught in the saw. Morris wasn’t sure of the man’s name and a Lincoln dispatcher said he was not allowed to divulge any information about the incident.

“When we got there his coworkers did a good job applying pressure and stopping the bleeding,” Morris said Monday. “The finger was still attached.”

The man was transported by ambulance to Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta. No further information is available.

“I don’t know if they were able to save it,” he said.
